These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of OpenBudget. By using OpenBudget, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
OpenBudget is a personal finance copilot designed to help you understand your spending, identify spending patterns, detect unusual expenses, and make short-term financial decisions based on available financial data. OpenBudget is provided for informational and personal-use purposes only.
OpenBudget is not a bank, financial advisor, investment advisor, tax advisor, accountant, broker, lender, or legal advisor.
You must be at least 13 years old to use OpenBudget. If you are using OpenBudget on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.
You may need to create an account to use OpenBudget. You are responsible for providing accurate account information, keeping your account credentials secure, maintaining control over your login methods, promptly notifying us of unauthorized access, and all activity that occurs under your account. OpenBudget may use third-party authentication providers to manage login and account access.
You may choose to provide or authorize OpenBudget to process financial information, including transaction alerts, payment confirmations, statements, CSVs, uploaded files, or manually entered data. You represent that you have the right to provide or authorize access to any data you submit or connect to OpenBudget.
OpenBudget may allow you to temporarily authorize access to Gmail or other third-party services. You are responsible for reviewing the permissions requested before authorizing access. Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. OpenBudget is not responsible for third-party service availability, data accuracy, outages, authentication failures, or policy changes.
OpenBudget provides informational analysis only. OpenBudget does not provide financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, accounting advice, lending advice, retirement advice, or estate planning advice.
Any spending estimates, affordability outputs, category insights, anomaly detections, or AI-generated explanations are informational only. You are responsible for making your own financial decisions. Before making important financial decisions, consider consulting a qualified professional.
OpenBudget may use AI to help summarize, classify, explain, or interpret financial information. AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, or based on incomplete data. You should not rely solely on AI-generated outputs for financial decisions.
OpenBudget may rely on data from emails, statements, uploaded files, manual entries, or third-party systems. This data may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, incorrectly parsed, incorrectly categorized, missing transactions, affected by provider errors, or affected by user input errors. OpenBudget does not guarantee that financial data, calculations, projections, classifications, or recommendations will be complete, accurate, current, or error-free.
You agree not to misuse OpenBudget. You may not use OpenBudget for unlawful purposes, attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems or data, interfere with or disrupt the app, reverse engineer or abuse the service, upload malicious files, bypass security controls, process data you do not have permission to use, or use the app in a way that violates third-party terms or applicable law.
Our Privacy Policy explains how OpenBudget collects, uses, stores, and protects information. By using OpenBudget, you also agree to the practices described in the Privacy Policy.
OpenBudget is designed with security in mind, but no system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for protecting your account, devices, email account, and authentication methods. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact security@openbudget.fyi.
OpenBudget may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. OpenBudget may add, modify, or remove integrations, data sources, AI features, or analysis features. We may also impose usage limits or restrict access if needed for security, reliability, legal, or operational reasons.
You may stop using OpenBudget at any time. OpenBudget may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, your use creates security, legal, or operational risk, we are required to do so by law, or the service is discontinued. Termination may result in loss of access to your account and data.
OpenBudget is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenBudget disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, availability, and non-infringement.
OpenBudget does not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, reliable, secure, or available. OpenBudget does not guarantee that financial data will be accurate, AI outputs will be correct, imported data will be complete, statements or emails will be parsed correctly, or spending estimates will match actual financial outcomes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, OpenBudget will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost savings, lost data, financial losses, or business interruption. OpenBudget is not responsible for financial decisions you make based on the app.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless OpenBudget from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, and expenses arising from your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, your violation of applicable law, your submission or authorization of data you do not have the right to use, or your misuse of the app.
These Terms are governed by the laws of [State/Country], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [County/State/Country], unless applicable law requires otherwise.
OpenBudget may update these Terms from time to time. When changes are made, the “Last updated” date will be revised. Continued use of OpenBudget after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
